Lowe's Canada and the Baeumler Family Foundation partner to ensure children have a safe place to call home

Fundraising campaign runs in all Lowe's stores throughout the month of June

TORONTO, ON, June 1, 2015 — Lowe's Canada and the Baeumler Family Foundation (BFF) are partnering to provide essential home renovations to make homes safe and accessible for those in need through a new point of sale fundraising campaign. The campaign in support of BFF is taking place in all 38 Lowe's stores in Canada throughout the month of June 2015 where customers are invited to donate $2 at checkout.

"We're proud to extend our partnership with the Baeumler Family Foundation and make a meaningful contribution to help improve the homes of Canadian families in need," says Wanda Walkden, Vice President, Human Resources and Communications, Lowe's Canada. "Our goal is to ensure children have a safe and accessible place to call home and together we can make a difference in so many families' lives."

Lowe's has supported BFF in the past with product donations on various accessibility projects in Ontario cities including Windsor, Markham, Burlington and Mississauga, however, this is the first year that Lowe's is partnering with BFF for such a campaign where they are inviting customers to donate to the cause. All proceeds raised through the fundraiser will go towards BFF builds and renovation projects for underprivileged children and families in need of accessibility, safety and security in the home.

"The Baeumler Family Foundation is honoured to partner with Lowe's Canada as we work together to provide loving, safe and stable home environments for children," says Sarah Baeumler, Chair, Board of Directors, Baeumler Family Foundation. "We are committed to helping children in our communities by ensuring families continue to get the help they need, in their time of need. Together, Lowe's Canada and the Baeumler Family Foundation will make a difference in the future of Canada, one family, and one house, at a time."

Families such as the Hills are recent recipients of BFF's assistance who renovated their young son's room and bathroom to be wheelchair accessible. Their son Jared was born 13 weeks premature with an undiagnosed condition that has permanently left him nonverbal, hearing impaired with cognitive and developmental delays. The family's home needed to be updated to accommodate Jared's needs and they are now able to properly enjoy their home knowing it's safe and accessible for the entire family.

"We're so grateful for organizations like the Baeumler Family Foundation and Lowe's who care so much for families like ours who need help improving their home to ensure they are safe and accessible," says the Hill family.

Lowe's has actively supported various national and local causes to help strengthen Canadian communities. The focus of these efforts is directed towards three key community pillars which also align with Lowe's core business of home improvement: Safe and Accessible Housing, Skilled Trades Education and Community Renovation and Improvement Projects.
