New Charlemagne Reno-Depot store opens officially today

  • An investment in excess of $3.7 million
  • The largest indoor lumber yard with drive-through in the area
  • Around ten jobs created through expanded offering

Boucherville, QC – May 10, 2018 — Lowe’s Canada celebrates today the grand opening of its 23rd Reno-Depot store in the country, located at 110 Émile-Despins, in Charlemagne. This former L’Entrepôt RONA converted to the Reno-Depot banner is the result of an investment in excess of $3.7 million. To provide retail customers, contractors and professionals with an unequalled shopping experience, the store underwent a major 12-week transformation which involved redesigning all departments, new racking, enhanced offerings and branding conversion. Ultimately, the expanded store offering will lead to the creation of about ten additional jobs.

"Our Charlemagne store is the second one to open under the new and improved Reno-Depot model. You will find here the essence of a conventional Reno-Depot store, the value-added RONA products and services that our local customers love, as well as new product categories, particularly in the appliances and seasonal departments," said Guy Beaumier, Executive Vice President, Big Box at Lowe’s Canada. "With an enhanced product offering that allows for more affordable home improvement projects and impeccable customer service by the very same professional team that our customers appreciate, everything is in place to offer the best shopping experience possible to consumers in and around Charlemagne."

Strategically located at the intersection of highways 40 and 640, the new Reno-Depot store of approximately 160,000 square feet includes an 87,000-square-foot sales floor, a 36,000-square-foot indoor lumber yard with drive-through, a 25,000-square-foot garden centre, and a 17,000-square-foot outdoor lumber yard. The new store, which employs 140 people, is in line with the company’s aim to provide consumers in the Charlemagne area with an enhanced home improvement offering.

In addition to the complete product assortment available at renodepot.com through the Click. Buy. Renovate. program, customers who visit the new Reno-Depot store in Charlemagne will have access to over 25,000 products in store, including the widest selection of appliances in the area. This product category is growing fast in Reno-Depot stores across Quebec and includes major brands such as KitchenAid, Frigidaire Pro, GE Café, and Cavavin. In all, 10,000 new products have been introduced in the home appliance, seasonal, flooring, interior finishing, finish plumbing, kitchen, and landscaping departments. Furthermore, the store includes specialty departments for building supplies, doors and windows, bathrooms, plumbing, heating, hardware, storage, and paint.

Many services valued by the local clientele will remain, including the largest indoor lumber yard with drive-through in the area, the possibility to buy hundreds of special order products, and the AIR MILES® Rewards Program.

Support for the local community

Today, Reno-Depot’s executives joined store employees in celebrating the grand opening through an official board-cutting ceremony and a community grant presentation. A $5,000 donation was made to local non-profit organization Regard en Elle to support the construction of six affordable and safe housing units for abused women.
