Oilers, Habs, and Local Hockey Teams: RONA Pulls Off a Hat Trick
The company, which has been supporting Canadian hockey for over 30 years, expands its NHL presence through new partnerships with the Canadiens and Oilers, and gets involved with local hockey teams
Boucherville, Québec, September 17, 2024 – RONA inc., one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers operating and servicing some 425 corporate and affiliated stores, announces its partnership with two Canadian NHL teams for the 2024-2025 season: the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers. The company, which has supported the Montreal Canadiens since 1993, is carrying on the tradition this year as a major partner of the team, and as official game co-presenter on RDS. RONA also confirms that it will soon be launching a new sponsorship program for its employees' children's hockey teams.
“Here, hockey is more than a sport, it’s a unifying force that’s part of Canada’s heritage. RONA has a long history of involvement with professional hockey, but this year we decided to take that commitment to another level by partnering with the Edmonton Oilers, the team that thrilled hockey fans across the country right up to the very last minute last season,” says Catherine Laporte, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Customer Experience at RONA inc.
The company will also once again be the main sponsor of the Montreal hockey club’s Skills Competition, slated for late February 2025.
RONA gets involved to improve access to sports for young Canadians
To improve access to sports for youth and encourage them to get active, the company will be offering financial support to about 85 local hockey teams in which the children of its employees play. The selected teams will receive a sum to enable them to purchase equipment, reduce registration fees for certain activities and take part in tournaments, among other things. Players and their families will also receive team-branded clothing. More details will follow about the teams with which RONA will be involved.
“We want to enable communities to build their homes and dreams, and we do this by supporting the organizations that bind our multiple communities together, such as the sports organizations that unite and shape our youth. We’re proud of these initiatives that will strengthen our presence and increase our visibility across the country,” adds Laporte
