RONA now takes back portable power tools in 10 of its stores in Western Canada
Boucherville, Quebec, February 9, 2026 – RONA inc., one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers, operating and servicing over 425 corporate and affiliated stores, is launching a new pilot project in collaboration with its longtime partner, eCycle Solutions, to recycle portable power tools in 10 of its corporate stores in Alberta and British Columbia. In doing so, the company becomes the first retailer in Canada to offer this service, which accepts all brands of power tools.
Until August 5, 2026, customers can bring back their used tools to any participating store. Recycling services will be provided by eCycle, a Canadian company specializing in IT asset management, e-waste recycling, and refurbishment of electronic devices and electrical equipment. Thanks to this pilot project, RONA now offers its DIY and professional customers a simple and responsible solution to discard these products, in addition to ensuring that they are properly recycled.
This service is the latest addition to the array of take-back programs found in every RONA+ and RONA corporate store, as well as some participating RONA dealer stores across the country, for CFL bulbs, fluorescent tubes, batteries and paint. “At RONA, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices. That is why we are constantly working on developing initiatives and innovative programs that support our clientele in choosing more responsible options.
