RONA Portage la Prairie unveils a brand-new garden centre

5,000 additional square feet to better serve the community

Boucherville, Québec, May 8, 2026 – RONA inc., one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers, operating and servicing some 425 corporate and affiliated dealer stores, congratulates Josh and Joel McPhail, as well as the RONA Portage la Prairie team, on the new 5,000-square-feet garden centre addition to their RONA store in Manitoba. The celebratory event was marked by a traditional board-cutting ceremony attended by RONA’s dealer support team, business partners, and the local store team. 

In October 2024, Joel and Josh acquired RONA Portage la Prairie after pursuing careers in business and management. Following this acquisition, the McPhail brothers and their team undertook an intensive 16-week construction project to completely reset and reimage the entire store while simultaneously building a brand-new 5,000 sq. ft. garden centre, adjacent to the property. The store also underwent a major internal reflow, including the merger of the flooring and kitchen departments to create a dedicated design centre. This new layout enhances the customer experience by offering a more integrated and personalized approach to home renovation projects. This transformation brought the store’s total footprint to 50,000 square feet, solidifying its position as the largest dealer-owned RONA in Western Canada.
